AAA Employee Benefits

AAA Tidewater Virginia employees receive a great benefits package! In many cases, the value of our benefits add 30% or more to an individual's total compensation! Here is a complete list and description:

For all employees on the first day of employment

  • Employee Discount program - Employees may purchase attraction tickets, travel store items and publications sold by the Club at special employee prices.
  • Free AAA Membership - Employees plus one associate receive a FREE AAA Basic Membership. After 5 years of employment, employees plus one associate receive a FREE AAA Plus Membership. Membership will be activated upon attaining 90 days of employment.
  • Auto Purchase Discounts - Ford, General Motors and Daimler-Chrysler offer AAA employees special discounts on the purchase of select automobiles at participating dealers.
  • Credit Union Membership - AAA employees may become members of Chartway Federal Credit Union. Upon joining, immediate family members become eligible.
  • Holiday Club - A Holiday Club account may be established through the Bank of the Commonwealth. Employees decide how much to contribute each pay period, then receive a check for the account balance each October.
  • Direct Deposit - Paychecks may be conveniently direct deposited each pay period. ADP Total Pay Cards are also available for direct deposit.
  • Employee Assistance Program - Sentara EAP offers employees and their dependents free confidential help for a variety of personal problems.

For full-time employees after 90 days

  • Health Insurance - Offered through Optima Health, employees may enroll in either an HMO or Point of Service plan. AAA pays 80% of the individual rate and 40-50% of the dependent rate based on salary.
  • Dental Insurance - Employees may enroll in a DHMO or DPPO plan offered through Dominion Dental.
  • Legal Plan - Employees can save money on legal expenses by enrolling in our Legal Plan, offered through Legal Resources of Virginia.
  • Paid Leave - Vacation, Sick leave and Personal leave are available to employees.
  • Paid Holidays - AAA recognizes the following paid holidays each year: New Year's Day, Martin Luther King Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.
  • Maternity Leave - Employees are eligible for up to 3 weeks of paid maternity leave for the birth of a child, adoption, or placement of a foster child.

For eligible employees after 1 year

  • 401(k) Plan - Employees who have worked at least 1,000 hours in the plan year and are at least 21 years old may enroll in the 401(k) plan. AAA matches 50% of the first 6% contributed by employees.
  • Life Insurance - Free Life insurance/AD&D is provided to full-time employees after one year of employment. Coverage value is $25,000.
